Vaccine groups

Flu: influenza vaccination in general (流感疫苗). Enhanced flu is tracked as three categories: Enhanced (加強型), when a mention covers adjuvanted or high-dose vaccines without saying which; Adjuvanted (佐劑, e.g. FLUAD 輔流禦); and High-dose (高劑量, e.g. Efluelda 菲優達). A mention that names both types counts under both. News articles count under a type when a search for that type or brand matched the article’s text, even if the headline only says 加強型. RSV: long-acting infant antibodies including nirsevimab (Beyfortus), plus maternal and older-adult RSV vaccines. Tdap: tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis boosters, including in pregnancy, and pertussis itself. COVID-19: COVID-19 vaccines, including the 2026-27 XFG vaccines from Moderna (mRNA) and Novavax (Nuvaxovid, protein-based; distributed in Taiwan by Sanofi), the joint flu and COVID-19 campaign (左流右新) and COVID-19 disease news. Any mention counts, even in passing.

COVID-19 brand

Each COVID-19 mention is labelled Moderna, Novavax, Moderna + Novavax (both named, even in passing) or Brand not stated. Brands named only inside an article are found through brand-specific news searches, as for vaccine types. In the brand filter, Moderna and Novavax each include items that name both; items that are not about COVID-19 show only when the filter is off.

Who pays

Public-funded (公費): the government programme, free for eligible groups. Self-pay (自費): paid out of pocket, for example clinics’ own stock. Both: the item mentions both, even in passing. Not stated: it mentions neither. In the Who pays filter, 公費 and 自費 each include the items that discuss both.

Place

The Taiwanese city or county an item is about: a local programme, campaign or health-bureau action, local cases, clinic stock or queues there, or a local event. Districts and towns count toward their city or county (鳳山 → Kaohsiung). A place is not tagged just because a speaker, hospital or outlet is based there. National, international and unspecified items carry no place, so most official notices have none, and one item can name several places. In the Place filter, a place includes items that name it alongside others; national items show only when the filter is off. The map counts mentions per place; the per-100,000 view divides by population (Ministry of the Interior, end of July 2026) and is shown only for places with at least 10 mentions. Boundaries: Ministry of the Interior (data.gov.tw, Open Government Data License), simplified via taiwan-atlas (MIT).

Stance scale

Adapted from the WHO SAGE vaccine-hesitancy continuum. Advocating: urges others to vaccinate. Accepting: has vaccinated or intends to. Neutral: news or information with no stance. Hesitant: delays, doubts or asks for reassurance. Opposed: rejects vaccination or spreads anti-vaccine claims.

COVID-19 廠牌

每則 COVID-19 提及會標為 Moderna、Novavax、Moderna＋Novavax（兩者皆被提及，即使只是順帶一提）或未說明廠牌。只出現在文章內文的廠牌，與疫苗類型一樣透過廠牌專屬的新聞搜尋找出。廠牌篩選中的 Moderna 與 Novavax 都包含兩者皆提及的項目；非 COVID-19 的項目只在篩選關閉時顯示。

費用來源

公費：政府計畫，符合資格者免費接種。自費：自行付費，例如診所自備的疫苗。公費＋自費：項目兩者都提到，即使只是順帶一提。未說明：兩者皆未提及。「費用」篩選中的公費與自費，都包含兩者皆談到的項目。

地區

Limitations

• Facebook coverage is limited to public pages.
• Threads and Facebook arrive through third-party scrapers that break when platforms change.
• Keyword-based collection misses posts that never name the vaccine or disease. News headlines that name no vaccine are kept only when they came from a vaccine-specific search, and the AI tagger confirms or drops them.
• News arrives as headlines only. Vaccine types, COVID-19 brands and who pays inside an article are inferred from separate type, brand and public / self-pay searches, which Google matches against the full text.
• Stance, issue and who-pays tags are AI-generated. Posts collected before 2026-10-11 were labelled for who pays from their paraphrase.
